 "CHRISTIAN COMEDIAN AKINTUNDE INTRODUCES NEW CHARACTER ON THE NEW SEASON OF "IT'S TIME 2 LAUGH"
Host of the "It's Time 2 Laugh" web series, Christian Comedian Akintunde will unveil an all new character, Bishop Nathaniel Februar on the season opener of "IT2L" debuting Tuesday November 13th via ministry website Streaming Faith (
www.streamingfaith.com/time2laugh). Bishop February is the Pastor of the fictional "Slippery Rock Lack Mnded Fellowship Center of The Casual Christian"
. Says Akintunde, "The character actually came about by
accident when I was asked to perform at my Pastor's, Appreciation
Ceremonies at my home church, and I wanted to suprise my church family,
and do something different
." . "The response was wonderful, and my Pastor called me later on, and strongly suggested that I do more with the character". Akintunde is a member of Right Direction Christian Center in Columbia South Carolina where the Pastors are Drs Herbert and Marcia Bailey.
The character will fit perfectly into the new direction
for the series, as Co-creator Akintunde plans to add more sketch comedy
to the show's core, stand up. The Bishop February character is best
described as an ultra traditional, "Old School", Preacher, whose way over the top. The character
will make sporadic appearances over the first few episodes of the
second season. The series drew more than 10,000 visitors per hour in
it's debut earlier this year, and features the comedian hosting sketch
bits, as well as live stand up footage (provided by fellow Christian
Comedians), along with "Man on the street" style footage featuring
Akintunde back stage at live Gospel events.
Developing a character is a natural progression
for Akintunde, as he prepares to celebrate his 14th year as a
professional stand up comedian. In addition to stand up, Akintunde has
a combined six years of television writing experience, penning
monologues for the syndicated series, "It's Showtime at The Apollo", the 2004 BET Awards, and the 2005 NAACP Image Awards. Since it's debut, "It's Time 2 Laugh" has
spun off a national Christian Comedy bus tour (the first ever for
Christian Comedans), as well as the nation's first Live stand up comedy
webcast (
"IT2L Live").
